NON-LINEAR OPTICS  (Rao Group)

Experimental laser physics: nonlinear optics; medical image processing; nano- and bio-photonics; optical data storage; optical power limiting & laser eye protection

SOLID-STATE PHYSICS (Arnason Group)

Electronic properties of new materials, focussing on ways in which structure and the quantum mechanical corrections to the semi-classical theory of conduction modify the behavior of electrons.

QUANTUM MANY-BODY PHYSICS (Olchanyi Group)

Cold atomic gases; quantum non-equilibrium dynamics; integrable systems; chaos in classical fields; scattering in restricted geometries.

QUANTUM NON-LINEAR DYNAMICS AND CONTROL  (Sundaram/Jacobs)

Quantum and classical chaos, quantum feedback control, quantum information theory, and applications in atom optics, Bose-Einstein condensation and quantum nano-electro-mechanics.

NON-LINEAR DYNAMICS IN BIOLOGY  (Sundaram)

Applications of non-linear dynamics in diverse areas of biology, including information processing in the brain, and the accoustics of whale sonar

SEMICONDUCTOR OPTOELECTRONICS (Sun)

Group-IV and III-V semiconductors, quantum wells, quantum dots, superlattices, interband lasers, quantum cascade lasers, plasmonics, and phonon dynamics.
