PHYSIC 350: Statistical Physics

The class gives an introduction to the fundamental theory underlying thermodynamics and diffusion: statistical mechanics.  When Offered: This class is offered in the Fall semester each year. Topics Covered: Macro and microstates, entropy and the partition function, Bose-Einstein and Fermi-Dirac Statistics. Applications: classical and quantum ideal gasses, Bose-Einstein condensation, phase transitions. Prerequisites: PHYSIC 312 or permission of instructor. UMass Boston Course Search page
