PHYSIC 312: Mechanics

The class covers the theory of Newtonian mechanics in more detail, and at a more advanced level than the introductory classes 107/113. It provides a solid preparation for further study in non-linear dynamics and chaos.

When Offered: This class is offered in the Spring semester each year.

Topics Covered: Principles of Newtonian mechanics, conservation laws, gravitational potential theory, and conservative fields, central forces, oscillatory systems, rigid body rotation, and relativistic mechanics.

Prerequisites: PHYSIC 211 and MATH 240 or permission of instructor.
