Medical Imaging and image processing; nonlinear optics and applications to power limiting; environmental sensing and diode laser absorption spectroscopy; high power fiber lasers and fiber-optic Bragg grating

Current Research Topics

At present I am working on projects involving early detection of microcalcifications in screen film as well as digital mammograms for breast cancer diagnostics and optical power limiting for eye and sensor protection from high and low power lasers. I was involved in inventing an image processing technique for digital mammograms to detect radiologists features of interests - microcalcifications, masses and lesions, which led to patent applications through University of Massachusetts Boston.
